Spotlighting the Best in Music & Creativity—What’s Coming in February!

Hi Reader,

Welcome to February! 2025 is already shaping up to be an exciting one, and we have been busy curating stories that celebrate the voices, talent, and creativity of African women in music. If you missed anything, don’t worry—we have got you covered!

Spotlight: The Girls’ Bio

In January, we spotlighted three incredible women making waves in the industry:

Kold AF- A talented female singer and songwriter whose raw storytelling and brilliant music artistry makes her one to watch.

Rima Tahini- The powerhouse A&R and creative executive behind some of Africa’s biggest music moves.

Ms DSF- A multi-talented DJ, actress, and all-around creative force redefining what it means to be a woman in the music space.

Industry Trends: What’s Popping in 2025?

Music is evolving fast, and we are keeping an eye on the trends. Afrofusion continues to dominate the charts, more artists are going independent, and creative storytelling is becoming a major key in music branding.
The 67th GRAMMY awards are happening February 2nd, and we’re rooting for the queens!

✨ Yemi Alade – Tomorrow (Best African Performance)

✨ Tems – Love Me Jeje (Best African Performance), Born in the Wild (Best Global Album), Burning (Best R&B Song)

✨ Angelique Kidjo and The Soweto Gospel choir- Sunlight to My Soul (Best Global Music Performance)

Look What The Girls Covered

We are officially rolling out our cover spotlight in February, and we are so excited to showcase some of the amazing submissions we have received! If you have sent in a cover, keep an eye out—you might be featured soon.

And if you haven’t submitted yet, what are you waiting for? Here’s how to go about it:

Make sure your audio and visuals are clear – we want your talent to shine!

Be expressive and creative– bring your own vibe to the song.

Send in your covers as soon as possible- the earlier, the better your chances of being spotlighted!

We can’t wait to see more of your amazing covers—keep them coming!

Weekly Playlists: The Soundtrack to Your Week

Every week, we curate a fresh playlist featuring the best from emerging and established artists. From smooth Afrofusion to high-energy anthems, we have got something for every vibe. If you haven’t checked out this week’s playlist, you’re missing out!

Stay tuned for the next one, and if you have got music recommendations, send them our way—we love discovering new sounds!

Educational Segments: Learning Never Stops

At AGA, we believe knowledge is power, and we are here to help creatives navigate the music industry. This month, we explored:

COPYRIGHT - Protect Your Art, Protect Your Rights! Understanding copyrights is key to owning your creative work and ensuring you get the credit (and benefits) you deserve.

BUILDING A TEAM - Your dream team = your dream career! Building the right team is essential for your growth and success as a creative.

GRAMMY SELECTION PROCESS : The GRAMMYs are the most prestigious music awards, recognizing outstanding achievements across various genres and categories and the selection process is as important as the awards.

✨What’s Next?
